I am a qualified teacher and have taught music for over a decade to students of all ages and have worked in many different situations including classroom teaching, assemblies, holiday camps, extracurricular, one to one tuition and in special needs provision. As a professional musician, I trained at the Royal College of Music (achieving a 1st class Bachelor of Music with honours degree) and UCL Institute of Education (Masters/Post Graduate Certificate in Education). I am passionate about music education and enabling all pupils to develop a sense of musicality and love of music. I work full time as a secondary music teacher in school and specialise in early music and music education.
I have a vast experience in teaching Music to all ages and experience. I have studied the art of teaching and applied this in many years of successful teaching practice. I am able to prepare pupils for ABRSM exams (including music theory) as well as just learning for pleasure and self initiated goals. I am able to motivate and inspire my pupils, including through performance opportunities or attending concerts.
As a music education specialist, I have found that a practical and creative approach to music lessons are the most successful. A kinesthetic and enjoyable experience ensures the learner is engaged and making progress on their instrument. My lessons will give you a all rounded Music Education; focusing on listening skills, Music appreciation, Music theory as well as just learning to play your instrument.
